“Start Shooting”, by Charlie Newton
This is his second novel, set in the gritty underbelly of Chicago’s ghetto where the not-s0-nice police are both under gunned and over manned by the twenty characters that are both diverse and believable, and has enough excitement and twists to keep any readers interest. The writing is tight, the scenes gripping, and the plot is simple but powerful. This book is comfortably above the standard run-of-the-mill mystery that seems to dominate the market these days. It’s a winner!
